Kespry Cloud: Uploading a Design Plan

The DJI Phantom RTK and Kespry 2s drones produce highly detailed 3D maps, and if you are using one of these systems, you also have the option of combining Kespry data with pre-existing site plans or topo maps to do more advanced calculations.

Some examples of times when this can be helpful are:

  • Calculating stockpile volumes at locations where the ground hasn’t been fully graded, or there’s a historical base you want to account for.

  • Calculating material take-offs for sites during the bidding process

  • Keeping track of progress toward earthworks completion, for a site as a whole, or for particular areas

  • Tracking material removal compared to a mine plan or regulatory plan

Uploading a Design Plan into Kespry Cloud

Design Plan Requirements:

  • Design Plan upload is only available for DJI Phantom RTK and Kespry 2s systems, because of the absolute accuracy required for accurate calculates compared to external data.

  • Before uploading a design plan file, you must have flown a mission using a PPK or RTK system and entered the coordinate system information.

  • The Design Plan must be in the same coordinate system as was used for the GPS reference location in the Kespry Cloud.

  • You can upload multiple files per site.

Supported file formats:

  • .dxf: It will take us up to 5 business days to process this before it is available for use

  • .tif: GeoTIFF automatically available once uploaded

Upload your known base plan (.dxf or .tif):

  1. Navigate to Settings → click on “Design Surface Settings”

2. Select the site you would like to upload a .tif or .dxf file for. Then choose the file you would like to upload. Name the file you are uploading.

3. Click “Save” and you will see the message below if your file has been successfully uploaded.

4. You will see which file is “In Use” when viewing the Design Surface Settings.

5. If you upload a .dxf file it will automatically be sent to Support for review and you will see the message below.

Note: The person who uploaded the file will receive a notification via email once the file is ready to be used.

6. You will see “Kespry Review” when viewing the Design Surface Settings.

7. Delete file: If you would like to delete a file that you uploaded, click the delete button next to the file you have uploaded.
