Sync DJI Custom Unlock License to Drone

If you have obtained a custom unlock from DJI to fly in a restricted area, the custom unlock license must be synced from the DJI Cloud to the drone.  The steps required are as follows.  Please note you must have an Internet connection to perform these steps:

  1. Turn on and connect all equipment (drone, iPad, controller).

  2. Launch the Kespry app and from the Settings menu (three horizontal bars) in the upper left-hand corner, choose Tools.

  3. From the Tools menu, choose the Drone tab and choose Fly Zones:

4. When prompted, log in to your DJI account.  This must be the same account used to apply for the custom unlock.  It may ask you to verify your identity by sending you a text message.

5. Once authenticated, you should see your custom unlock listed in the top section under "Unlocked zones in DJI Cloud":

6. Click the double arrows at the bottom of the "Unlocked zones on drone" section to sync the custom unlock license from the DJI Cloud down to the drone.

Note: The unlock license must be in effect in order for it to sync to the drone. If the Effective Date is in the future, while you may see it listed in the DJI Cloud section, it will not sync to the drone until the Effective Date.

7. Once the unlock license has successfully been synced down to the drone, the restricted area / no fly zone you are in will be unlocked and take off will be allowed:
