3D Tools on Kespry Cloud

The 3D View tab allows you to visualize your data in three dimensions, giving you better insight into the topography of your terrain and the placement of your piles.

Accessing and navigating 3D View:

To access the 3D View from the Kespry Cloud interface, click on the 3D View Button in the Kespry Cloud menu bar.

The 3D Model will open in your window with any polygons, cross-section lines, and dropped points displayed in the space. Click the ‘Help’ button  to access the controls for the 3D space. Clicking on help brings up the following window with instructions for using either a mouse or a touch screen to navigate.

Colorizing Polygons:

Polygons are created in the 2D view but the color you select for the polygon outline will be attributed to the 3D view of the same polygon. To select the polygon color, create a new polygon or open and edit an existing polygon. In the polygon card click the color picker in the upper right-hand corner and select the color you would like.

Once you have selected a color click save and the polygon outline and color in the 3D view will match your selection.

If you’d like to see the original color of the pile instead of the shaded color, simply click on the ‘View’ icon next to the polygon name in the list on the left side of the screen.

Selecting polygons in 3D view:

Selecting a polygon in the 3D view highlights the polygon/pile in the 3D view and allows you to see any base points that were used to analyze volumetrics on the pile.

There are three methods for selecting a polygon a viewing it in the 3D view.

  • From the 2D view, open the polygon card and click the ‘See this in 3D View’ button towards the bottom of the card. This will open the 3D view with your selected polygon centered and highlighted.

  • From the 3D view you can either select the pile from the list of polygons on the left-hand side of the screen, or you can simply click on the pile in the interface to highlight the pile and display any base points associated with it.

Extrusion of piles:

You now can extrude piles from the base surface to get a better understanding of the material that is being included in your volumetrics calculations. To extrude a pile from the base simply Shift+Click the polygon and the pile will be extracted from the surface and displayed above the original pile. To remove the extruded pile, simply Shift+Click the same pile again.
