Uploading a .kml file into DJI GS Pro

This is a guide for uploading and using .kml files to create missions in the DJI GS Pro app.

As an alternative to creating missions from scratch, one can work offline in Google Earth to create a .kml file. First determine the area to be mapped along with GCP placement, and then upload the .kml to DJI GS Pro prior to flying the drone. Doing so takes the guess-work out of planning and includes exact GCP placement in the flight plans.

Note: The .kml upload option is an in-app purchase after 4 free uploads. This guide assumes basic understanding for creating a .kml file using Google Earth.

1. To get started, make sure you desktop computer, containing the .kml file and your iPad, with the DJI GS Pro app, are connected to the same WiFi network.

2. Open the DJI GS Pro app and click on the Material button
   
   

   
   
   
   

3. A dialog box will appear with the IP address of the iPad
   
   

4. Enter the IP address into a browser window of you desktop computer. In this example type, http://192.168.1.80 into your browser window. Click on the Upload Files button to upload the desired .kml file from the desktop to the iPad
   
   

   
   
   
   

5. Notice, the .kml file appears in DJI GS Pro
   
   

6. Swipe the .kml file to the left and click on Import
   
   

7. Click on the .kml files
   
   

   
   
   
   

8. The polygon defining the area to be mapped appears on the iPad screen
   
   

   
   
   
   

9. Swipe the .kml file to the left and click on Create Mission
   
   

10. Click on the icon on the right (the 3rd one)
    
    

11. A mission is created based on the polygon imported from the .kml. Mission parameters can be edited. Don?t forget to save the mission!
